Job summary

Canadian Tire Stores is seeking an Automotive Service Installer to join our team. You will perform oil changes, tire installation and basic vehicle maintenance in a busy service centre, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will communicate with service staff, provide clear estimates, and help customers with trusted automotive advice. A valid license and adaptability to shift work are required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment.
• Ability to stand/walk 8 hours with lifting and bending.
• Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Approachable and team-friendly attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of current automobile technology.
• Ability to use computerized systems.
• Experience in a Canadian Tire Automotive Service Centre is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs: lube, oil and filter changes; tire installation, rotation and balancing; basic inspections.
• Administer drive clean emission tests where required by province.
• Perform RIV inspections as needed.
• Communicate with Service Manager/ Advisors and Technicians.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Report unsafe vehicles to management and owner.
• Ensure Health and Safety regulations are followed.

Responsibilities:

• Perform customer vehicle basic maintenance and repairs, as requested (lube, oil and filter changes / remove, install, rotate and balance tires / basic repairs, maintenance and inspections that do not require the presence of a Licensed Automobile Technician, etc.).
• Administer drive clean emission tests (only in specific provinces).
• Perform Registered Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections.
• Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Licensed Automobile Technicians and Back Parts Window Associate.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, twisting, turning and reaching
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)
• Approachable
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make decisions
• Knowledge of current automobile technology
