Job summary

Canadian Tire Stores seeks an Automotive Service Installer to perform basic vehicle maintenance and tire services in a fast-paced service centre. Responsibilities include oil changes, tire rotation and balancing, and basic inspections, with collaboration across service staff.

Applicants should have a valid driver’s license and a comfort with computerized systems. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in estimates, and adherence to Health and Safety standards.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license for employment province or region.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift items as part of maintenance work.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including days, evenings and weekends.
• Experience in a Canadian Tire Automotive Service Centre is an asset.
• Knowledge of automobile technology and ability to operate computerized systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on customer vehicles as requested (lube, oil changes, tire work, inspections).
• Administer drive clean emission tests where required.
• Perform Registered Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections.
• Coordinate with Service Manager/Advisors and technicians.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Ensure unsafe vehicles are reported to management and owner and comply with safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform customer vehicle basic maintenance and repairs, as requested (lube, oil and filter changes / remove, install, rotate and balance tires / basic repairs, maintenance and inspections that do not require the presence of a Licensed Automobile Technician, etc.).
• Administer drive clean emission tests (only in specific provinces).
• Perform Registered Imported Vehicles (RIV) inspections.
• Communicate with Service Manager/Service Advisors/Licensed Automobile Technicians and Back Parts Window Associate.
• Provide accurate estimates and written vehicle reports to the Service Advisor.
• Ensure that an unsafe vehicle is reported to management and vehicle owner.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

Requirements / Skills

• Valid driver’s license for province of employment
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, twisting, turning and reaching
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, week-ends and holidays)
• Approachable
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make decisions
• Knowledge of current automobile technology
