Job summary

Magna is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer for hemming processes in a Brampton, Canada role. You will execute hem studies, coordinate tool designs, and forecast projects across suppliers and internal teams. Strong CAD skills and automotive assembly exposure are essential.

Responsibilities include tool releases, risk assessments, and ensuring ISO procedures are followed. Excellent communication and collaboration with customers are required for success.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent with design experience.
• Minimum 3 years CAD experience with Catia V5 or Unigraphics NX.
• Mechanical design and detailing of 3D solids and complex surfacing.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.
• Automotive assembly and Body-in-White experience desirable.
• Hemming and stamping die experience advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute hem studies and present findings to the customer.
• Define hemming process, take hem measurements, and advise on concerns.
• Coordinate open hem models and tool designs with teams.
• Forecast hemming projects and plan long lead items.
• Manage hemming tool design with external resources to meet timelines.
• Lead tool design reviews with customer and internal teams.
• Release hemming tools for manufacture with project teams.
• Support dimensional, robotics and shop floor with hem tooling.
• Upload models to Teamcenter and maintain spare parts lists.
• Adhere to ISO standard procedures and safety requirements.
