Job summary

Magna is seeking a mechanical engineering professional in Ontario to support design and layout improvements in automotive manufacturing. You will apply CAD, GD&T, and lean methods to deliver quality parts safely within cycle times, collaborating with customers and suppliers.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, process design, and equipment upgrades, with a focus on part flow, CNC machining knowledge, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in mechanical engineering.
• 1–2 years related automotive experience.
• 1–2 years CAD design and layout experience.
• Effective communication skills within company and with customers/suppliers.
• Knowledge of GD&T and lean techniques; CNC machining experience.

Responsibilities

• Design new packaging requirements based on customer specs.
• Modify plant layout based on internal/external requirements.
• Apply Cycle Time Charting, FMEA, DFM/ DOE techniques.
• Provide prompt customer service for manufacturability questions.
• Maintain knowledge of CAD software systems.
• Exchange data with customers and suppliers.
• Record all pertinent data files for traceability.
• Drive upgrades to processing, equipment and WIP.
