Job summary

Johnson Electric in Mississauga, ON seeks an Automation Technician to support, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve automation systems on the manufacturing floor. You will work with PLCs, robotics, sensors, HMIs and related automation components to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.

The role involves installation, setup, commissioning, regular maintenance, and collaboration with engineering for hardware and software updates, while ensuring safety and quality targets are met.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or diploma in automation or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with automation systems in manufacturing.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial automation equipment.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, robotics, sensors, HMIs and related control systems.
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience using power tools and diagnostic equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, setup and commissioning of automation equipment.
• Perform regular maintenance inspections and repairs to maximize availability.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, robotics and automation issues.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, robotics, sensors, HMIs and related components.
• Provide technical support to production during breakdowns and outages.
• Collaborate with engineering to implement hardware/software updates.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, repairs and performance.
• Support safety assessments and improve system reliability.
