Job summary

Johnson Electric in Mississauga is seeking an Automation Project Specialist (Robotics/PLC Service) to program, commission, and support advanced automation systems across sites. You will lead PLC and robot integrations, troubleshoot cells, and ensure smooth startup of production lines.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automation, strong PLC programming skills (Omron NJ, Allen Bradley), and hands-on experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa, or KUKA robotic systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an automation or controls environment.
• Expert knowledge of PLC programming (Omron NJ, Allen Bradley).
• Experience with robot programming (Fanuc, Yaskawa, KUKA).
• Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with industrial controls, automation systems, and troubleshooting.
• Must be able to train the first few weeks at our Ancaster facility with the eventual move to Mississauga.

Responsibilities

• Program, debug, and commission PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion systems
• Troubleshoot and optimize robotic cells, including vision and force monitoring systems
• Support design, build, and startup of automation equipment and assembly lines
• Modify existing production equipment and develop new automation solutions
• Configure industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, etc.)
• Develop or modify LabVIEW-based programs for automation systems
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams during design and implementation
• Support equipment commissioning at customer sites and provide technical support
• Prepare technical documentation including manuals, setup procedures, and schematics
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance
