Job summary

GlassRatner Advisory Canada Inc. seeks an Associate to join its Restructuring & Insolvency Advisory practice in Toronto. We advise companies, lenders, and stakeholders in complex restructuring, insolvency, and distressed situations, including SISPs and cross-border matters.

You will work directly with senior practitioners, gaining client and court exposure while supporting mandates across receiverships, CCAA, and lender advisory engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related discipline.
• Approximately 2–5 years of relevant restructuring, insolvency, corporate finance, audit, or financial advisory experience.
• Experience with CCAA and/or BIA proceedings, including monitor or lender advisory work.
• Strong financial modelling, cash flow forecasting and liquidity analysis.
• Clear, professional client and court materials communication; strong writing and presentation skills.
• Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficiency; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support receiver, monitor, and proposal trustee mandates with financial and operational analysis.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, financial models, variances, and liquidity assessments.
• Review information to identify trends, drivers, liquidity needs, and restructuring considerations.
• Assist with court-supervised SISPs, bid analysis, normalization, and due diligence.
• Draft monitor's reports, court materials, memoranda, and client deliverables.
• Conduct financial analysis for lender workouts, debt restructurings, and turnarounds.
• Liaise with counsel, lenders, management, and other stakeholders on engagements.
• Conduct company/industry research and assist with presentations and BD materials.
• Manage multiple engagements and projects in a fast-paced environment.

GlassRatner Advisory Canada Inc. is seeking an Associate to join its Restructuring & Insolvency Advisory practice in Toronto. Our team advises companies, secured lenders, and other stakeholders in complex restructuring, insolvency, and distressed situations. The practice provides receiver, monitor, and trustee mandates, court-supervised sale and investment solicitation processes, and lender-side advisory services across CCAA, BIA, and CJA frameworks, including matters with cross-border Canada-U.S. dimensions. This is an opportunity to work directly with senior practitioners and gain meaningful client and court-related exposure while contributing to active, high-profile mandates.

Responsibilities

• Support receiver, monitor, and proposal trustee mandates, including financial and operational analysis of insolvent or financially distressed companies.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, financial models, variance analyses, and liquidity assessments for debtor companies and secured lenders.
• Review financial and operational information to identify trends, key performance drivers, liquidity requirements, and restructuring considerations.
• Assist with court-supervised Sale and Investment Solicitation Processes (SISPs), including bid analysis, normalization, and transaction due diligence.
• Draft components of Monitor’s Reports, receiver’s reports, court materials, advisory memoranda, and other client deliverables.
• Conduct financial analysis and due diligence in support of lender workouts, secured creditor advisory engagements, debt restructurings, and turnaround situations.
• Liaise with legal counsel, lenders, management teams, and other stakeholders on active engagements.
• Conduct company and industry research and assist with presentations, pitch materials, and business development initiatives.
• Manage and prioritize multiple engagements and special projects in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 2-5 years of relevant experience in restructuring, insolvency, corporate finance, audit, or financial advisory.
• Experience with CCAA and/or BIA proceedings, including monitor, receivership, proposal trustee, or lender advisory work.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity analysis, and scenario modelling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, professional client and court-related materials.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.
• Based in Toronto or willing to relocate to the Greater Toronto Area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within a Big Four, national, or established restructuring/advisory firm.
• Experience supporting sale processes, bid evaluations, transaction due diligence, or distressed M&A.
• Canadian CPA designation or actively pursuing the designation
• CIRP designation or active pursuit of the designation is considered an asset but is not required.
• Familiarity with Canadian financial reporting standards and financial research platforms such as Capital IQ or Bloomberg.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex or incomplete financial information and identify practical solutions.
• Willingness to travel as required.
