Job summary

Crowe MacKay LLP in Vancouver seeks a Manager to join the Insolvency team. You will work directly with the Insolvency group to manage engagements, advise on insolvency matters and help grow the firm’s practice in the region.

The role emphasizes technical insolvency knowledge, strong financial analysis, and the ability to work with creditors and courts while supporting the team across Canada.

Qualifications

• CPA designation or legacy equivalent required.
• Experience in insolvency not required.
• Interest in CIRP and LIT.
• Strong cash flow modelling and business modelling skills.
• Proven problem solving, negotiation and decision-making abilities.
• Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting standards.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with insolvency engagements including bankruptcy, restructuring, CCAA, receivership and liquidation.
• Advise on insolvency laws and practices.
• Assist in managing personal and corporate insolvency engagements (Trustee/Receiver/Liquidator/Monitor).
• Support troubled companies, lenders and creditors through financial reviews and restructurings.
• Communicate with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and the Courts.
• Identify and develop referral sources and assist with practice development.
• Travel to other offices and off-site locations as required.

Crowe MacKay & Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Crowe MacKay LLP, serves expert debt solutions through its Licensed Insolvency Trustees. The Insolvency department is excited to grow our team and is currently seeking a Manager to join our Vancouver office. You will be an integral part of our knowledgeable team and will work at the forefront of prominent and interesting transactions. As a Manager, you will work directly with the Insolvency team to ensure our firm’s continued growth within our market where we maintain a reputation for quality service and results.

The Role

• Assist with all aspects of insolvency including: bankruptcy and restructuring, CCAA, receivership and liquidation engagements.
• Advise on current insolvency laws and practices.
• Involvement in the ongoing management of personal and corporate insolvency engagements (including acting as Trustee, Receiver, Liquidator or Monitor in the context of both private and court appointed engagements).
• Assist troubled companies, lenders, creditors, shareholders and other stakeholders through the course of financial reviews, business turnarounds, financial restructuring (formal or informal), bankruptcies and liquidations.
• Conduct ongoing communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and the Courts through creditor meetings, reports, attendance at Court, etc.
• Ability to identify, target, and develop referral sources.
• Assist with practice development assignments.
• Travel to other offices and off-site locations as required.

What You Will Bring

• Canadian CPA designation (or legacy CA, CMA, CGA).
• Previous experience in insolvency is not required.
• Interest in pursuing designations as a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT).
• Experience developing and working with cash flow models with strong business modelling skills and experience.
• Proven capabilities in problem solving, negotiation and decision making.
• Solid understanding of financial statements.
• Technical ability in conducting financial analysis.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills.
• Exemplifies self-motivation and strong work ethic.
• Ability to prioritize with the flexibility to manage workload demands and multiple tasks as required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of accounting standards.
• An innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment.
• Self-starter, able to work independently.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of insolvency rules, laws and procedures and good working knowledge of Ascend software is considered an asset.
