Job Description

What will you work on?

This is a fixed-term 12-month contract opportunity. As Associate Counsel, you will provide expert counsel in commercial law, licensing, and intellectual property. Your responsibilities include reviewing, negotiating, and managing various agreements such as customer/vendor, distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, and licensing agreements. You will also advise on legal issues for the assigned business units on a day-to-day and project basis.

How will you create impact?

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on technology, marketing, procurement, and other commercial agreements.
• Support intellectual property matters.
• Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory changes impacting the company; recommend and implement compliance policies and procedures.

What are your skills and experience?

• Juris Doctorate and membership in a Canadian law society.
• Experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of technology and commercial agreements, especially in marketing and procurement.
• Knowledge of privacy and data security laws is a strong asset.
• Extensive knowledge of technology and commercial law.
