Job summary

Colliers Project Leaders in Ottawa is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Federal Government team on diverse projects ranging from commercial buildings to heritage restorations. You will work under experienced project managers, strengthening your skills and contributing to critical infrastructure initiatives across Canada.

You will develop expertise in project controls, scheduling, and stakeholder communication while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or project management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in project coordination, project management or construction management.
  • Experience assisting with construction activities, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Secret level security clearance from the Federal Government.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including scheduling (MS Project), Word and Excel.
  • PMP designation or other industry credentials are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project support to Project Managers by managing schedule updates, maintaining project controls, developing progress reports and preparing tender and contract documents.
  • Serve as a communication link between the Project Manager, client and other stakeholders.
  • Work with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
  • Assist with formulating and managing project plans.
  • Maintain systems for project management and records in line with client standards and security protocols.
  • Review and update project costs and schedules.

Your roleJoin our team as an Assistant Project Manager in the Ottawa region with our Federal Government team.

In this role, you’ll support experienced project managers and get the opportunity to sharpen your skills on diverse range of projects varying in scope and complexity. You will hone your project management skills by contributing to various projects from commercial buildings and fit-ups, heritage restoration, high security facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide project support to Project Managers by managing schedule updates, maintaining project controls, developing progress reports and preparing tender and contract documents
  • You will be a communication link between the Project Manager, client and other stakeholders
  • Working with a variety of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
  • Assisting with formulating and managing project plans
  • Maintaining various systems for the management and control of the project in a manner compatible with client standards, and security protocol for project staff and records management system
  • Reviewing and updating project costs and schedules
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in project coordination, project management or construction management field
  • A university degree or college diploma in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience assisting with construction activities, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget
  • Must hold or be eligible for Secret level security clearance from the Federal Government
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications
  • PMP designation or other industry recognized credentials are considered assets

Expected Compensation: $58,965 – $74,574 per year (CAD)

This range represents our good‑faith estimate at the time of posting, based on market benchmarks and internal equity. Final compensation will be determined considering the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications and regional consideration. Annual bonus opportunities are in addition to base salary.
