Job summary

The Dock on Princess in Brandon, MB is seeking an assistant manager to lead daily operations in a fast-paced restaurant and pub. You will run the floor during management shifts, oversee FOH and HOH labor, and uphold service standards and guest satisfaction.

You will cross-train with all managers, assist with invoicing, waste, and month-end inventory, and work with the GM and Chef on six-month goals. You will help hire and train staff and coordinate events and marketing to promote our calendar

Job details

The Dock on Princess is a busy local restaurant and pub. We serve scratch made food, using many local ingredients. We have a dining room, pub, private room and patio. We run several different events throughout the year. We are looking for someone with a passion for restaurants, who enjoys working in a fast paced environment alongside their team.

Job responsibilities

• Responsible for running the floor during your management shifts
• Responsible for FOH labour during your management shifts
• Responsible for HOH labour once HOH managers have gone home
• Responsible for supporting your team and maintaining our service standard and the guest experience.

Day to Day and Training Responsibilities

• Cross train with all managers to be able to provide help and back up on their side jobs for vacations, job vacancies etc.
• Help GM with entering invoices, waste sheets and inventory for month end
• Work with GM and Chef on setting 6 month goals and plans
• Help with the hiring and training of new staff
• Work with GM on continuing to improve service standards through staff training and seminars, secret shoppers, reviews and ongoing training of managers
• Help GM with staff reviews and ongoing coaching
• Help GM with scheduling and labor costs
• Help GM with inventory and managing waste costs
• Work with GM to create a positive working environment for our staff, helping to grow the relationship between front of house and kitchen staff

Special Events and Marketing Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning all special events in the restaurant, i.e. New Year’s Eve, Halloween etc.
• Work with the team on a theme for the event
• Responsible for decorations
• Work with the kitchen on food specials for the events
• Work with the bar manager on drink specials for the events
• Work with the events manager on any special seating or reservation requirements
• Co-ordinate marketing for the event (in‑house marketing, social media, working with the printers etc.)
• Work with the service team manager to plan staff functions
• Work with GM on new promotions for the restaurant (coming up with ideas, pricing, promoting)
• Keep our calendar updated with local events
• Marque to be changed once a week
• Keeping the bathroom ads up to date
• Maintain the community board
• Keep Dock merchandise cabinet stocked, display current, merc. And prize cabinets stocked
• Work with GM on décor
• Keep a list of things that need fixing or replacing, so we can maintain the appearance of the restaurant

Pay

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
