Job description

Assistant Manager of RCMP Community Services (Exempt 2026-04)
  • Full-time
  • Department: Protective Services
  • Vacancy Status: Full-Time

Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,500 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town flavor.

The City of Mission is seeking an experienced and service-oriented professional for the position of Assistant Manager, RCMP Community Services. Reporting to the Manager of RCMP Administration, the Assistant Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for essential community-facing and support services within the RCMP Detachment. This role is integral to ensuring the effective delivery of cell guarding, property control, victim services, crime prevention, fleet operations, and other specialized community services functions.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and guidance to staff, including the RCMP Operational Services Supervisor. Responsibilities include supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, attendance management, coaching, and employee relations in accordance with City policies and applicable collective agreements. The Assistant Manager will help identify operational requirements, address workflow and service gaps, implement process improvements, and support the development of policies, procedures, training, and operational standards.

This position also supports planning and budget activities, prepares reports and statistical summaries, monitors expenditures, and ensures that services comply with RCMP policy, municipal requirements, privacy legislation, and other applicable provincial and federal legislation. The role requires the ability to manage sensitive police information appropriately and to maintain effective working relationships with RCMP members, City departments, Crown Counsel, partner agencies, and community organizations. The Assistant Manager may also act for the Manager of RCMP Administration when required

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary certificate or diploma in business administration, public administration, or a related field, along with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal policing environment, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience using police information systems such as PRIME, CPIC, and JUSTIN is required, as is a strong understanding of RCMP community services operations, detachment procedures, guarding requirements, privacy and records-security obligations, and legislation affecting police work.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with sound judgment and a commitment to confidentiality, accountability, and respectful service delivery. A valid BC Driver’s Licence and the ability to obtain and maintain the required RCMP security clearance are required.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $94,344 to $104,832, based on qualifications and experience.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
