Job summary

Aramark Canada is seeking a full-time Assistant Manager for the Starbucks at Carleton University campus. Reporting to the location Manager, you will lead daily operations, supervise team members, schedule staff, and ensure outstanding customer service.

You will support HR functions, recruit and train staff, and help drive marketing initiatives while maintaining cost controls and inventory. The role requires hospitality management experience, strong communication, and flexibility to work some

Qualifications

• Requires diploma or related experience in hospitality management.
• Shows ability to lead and manage operations and people.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial interpretation is valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations with guidance from the Manager.
• Schedule staff with assistance from the Manager.
• Support HR tasks such as evaluations and progressive discipline.
• Recruit and train staff in line with Aramark standards.
• Develop supervisory staff and maintain high service quality.
• Ensure courteous service and resolve customer concerns.
• Assist with marketing initiatives and promotions with the Manager.
• Manage inventory, costs, and revenue deposits.
• Maintain cash handling compliance and reporting.

Reporting to the Manager of the location, our Assistant Managers are responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the unit, working with and providing leadership to the team on the ground, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

About The Job

• Responsible for overseeing the daily operations with assistance from the Manager
• Ensure compliance of all Aramark operating standards, Franchise standards, and legislated standards including company policy and procedure, Health and Safety standards, and Safe Food Handling
• Responsible for scheduling staff with assistance from the Manager
• Provides support to Manager with HR functions such as performance evaluations and progressive discipline
• Recruits and trains staff in compliance with Aramark and Franchise requirements
• Develops and motivates Supervisory staff to attain proper standards of performance
• Ensure quality, courteous service is provided to all customers, and resolves customer complaints
• Works with the Manager and Marketing Manager to launch marketing initiatives and promotions
• Responsible for inventory controls, food, labor and direct costs
• Collects, records, and deposits all revenues received at the component
• Maintains compliance of all cash handling and cash auditing procedures, reports and overage/shortages
• Ensures adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures
• Ensures adherence to Aramark's Health and Safety Programs
• Other duties as assigned

About You

• Diploma in Hospitality Management/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience
• Management experience required
• Experience in a unionized setting an asset
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret financials
• Strong organization skills
• Flexible Schedule Required ? may involve some evenings and weekends
