Job summary

Aramark’s Carleton Dining Services is hiring an Assistant Manager for the Teraanga Commons Dining Hall on Carleton University campus in Ottawa. You will assist daily operations, lead a frontline team, and ensure high levels of customer service.

You will work under the Food Service Manager with culinary staff, participate in scheduling, HR tasks, hiring and training, and help drive promotions and revenue control. This role offers career growth within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in a unionized setting an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Some physical work required; must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Flexible Schedule Required - may involve some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations with assistance from the Manager on duty and in conjunction with the culinary team.
  • Ensure compliance with Aramark operating standards and legislated standards including Health and Safety and Safe Food Handling.
  • Assign daily tasks to the team.
  • Assist with scheduling duties under the guidance of the manager on duty.
  • Support HR functions such as performance evaluations and progressive discipline.
  • Recruit and train staff in line with Aramark requirements.
  • Develop and motivate staff to meet standards of performance.
  • Ensure quality, courteous service to all customers and resolve complaints.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager on promotions and initiatives.
  • Participate in inventory controls.
  • Collect, record, and deposit all revenues earned at the unit.
  • Maintain adherence to cash handling and auditing procedures.
  • Adhere to Aramark policies and Health & Safety programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Food Service Managers in the location, and working in conjunction with the Culinary Team and other Assistant Managers, our Assistant Managers are responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the unit, working with and providing leadership to the team on the ground, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

About the Job

About You

This hourly wage range for this role is $20.50 to $22.00.
