Job summary

Gibson Energy ULC is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead consolidation, external financial reporting and corporate accounting from our Calgary Head Office. The role oversees the close, reviews statements, and coordinates accounting across teams with senior Finance leadership.

You will guide policy, controls and improvements, manage a high-performing team, and partner with Treasury and business units on significant transactions and disclosures.

Qualifications

• CPA designation and a university degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive post‑qualification experience.
• Experience with public-company reporting, consolidation and external audits.
• Strong capability in close and reporting cycles.
• Ability to lead and develop accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly and annual close and consolidated reporting.
• Review financial statements, notes, cash flow, and disclosures.
• Coordinate with Treasury and contributing teams on significant transactions.
• Lead external audit relationships and respond to audit requests.
• Implement process improvements and automation within the finance function.
• Provide technical accounting leadership and IFRS guidance as needed.
