Job summary

Gibson Energy Inc. invites applications for a Senior Accountant at our Calgary Head Office. The role focuses on IFRS-based external and internal financial reporting, including consolidation, MD&A, and disclosures for quarterly and annual filings.

The position partners with FP&A, Tax, and Operations, supporting process improvements, effective internal controls, and timely financial statements. CPA designation and strong Excel/ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Must-have IFRS expertise with strong technical accounting research and disclosure experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation.
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting in a public company.
• Experience coordinating with external auditors and managing complex reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned process improvements from root-cause analysis through validation, including automating reconciliations and reporting.
• Research IFRS accounting issues, prepare memoranda, and translate conclusions into entries and disclosures.
• Build and maintain Workiva documents, linked schedules, and validation checks with IT/Internal Controls collaboration.
• Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and notes per IFRS; coordinate auditor requests.
