Compensation: $40-45/hr
About the Role
Our client has an immediate need for a detail-oriented and resourceful Assistant Controller & Operations Lead to join the team on a short-term basis. This hybrid role is perfect for someone who is an independent contractor seeking who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will support key accounting tasks while also taking on administrative operations duties across HR, legal, IT, and general office functions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Support (60%)
•Assist with month-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries
•Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank deposits, and expense tracking
•Help maintain the general ledger and ensure day-to-day accounting accuracy
•Support the preparation of financial reports and variance analyses
•Assist in monitoring cash flow and supporting financial controls
•Work with ERP to maintain clean data
Operations Administration (30%)
•Coordinate basic HR tasks: onboarding documentation, employee files, benefit tracking
•Manage vendor contracts, NDAs, and filing of legal documents
•Assist with insurance renewals, and IT coordination
•Maintain internal documentation and process improvements
Special Projects (10%)
•Support internal initiatives to streamline finance or ops workflows
•Assist with SOP documentation, file audits, or new software rollouts
Qualifications
•Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or business administration
•Experience working with in a private SME within distribution industry is preferred
•Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping
