About Our Client:

Our Client is a fast-growing General Contractor recognized for delivering high-performance data center infrastructure across Quebec, Ontario, and the USA. Known for their quality execution and collaborative culture, they are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support financial operations and project growth.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, payroll coordination, and project cost control. This position is 100% office-based in Ville Saint-Laurent and offers the opportunity to join a dynamic team building tomorrow’s critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
• Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Analyze and reconcile accounts to identify and correct discrepancies.
• Prepare accounting files for external audits.
• Manage GST/QST filings.
• Coordinate onboarding for new employees (payroll setup, IT access, benefits).
• Oversee payroll administration (managed externally), including CCQ and U.S. payroll (assets).
• Manage group benefits programs (RRSP and insurance).
• Supervise expense accounts and vendor payments.
• Monitor project costs and revenues vs. budgets and explain variances.
• Assist with cash flow management and related reporting.
• Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA designation or CPA candidate (Mentorship available).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Functional bilingualism (French/English).
• Experience in the construction industry required.
• Familiarity with U.S. bookkeeping (an asset).
• Knowledge of Procore (strong asset) and QuickBooks Online.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
