General Description

As an Assistant Controller, you will support the District Controller with daily accounting tasks, monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and special projects. You will collaborate with various departments including Operations, Sales, Dispatch, and Customer Service. Success in this role depends on a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. We prioritize sourcing, developing, and promoting individuals who meet these expectations to ensure our continued growth.

Minimum Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly financial close functions and prepare financial statements.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts.
  • Complete monthly financial projection analysis.
  • Analyze significant financial variances to budget and forecast.
  • Communicate financial information effectively to business partners.
  • Participate in the annual financial budget process.
  • Prepare capital purchase requests with supporting documents.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls.
  • Maintain regular reporting processes to support operations.
  • Coordinate and perform inventory counts for rolling stock, containers, and truck shop inventory.
  • Train non-financial personnel on internal controls, procedures, and financial review.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in CPA program.
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with initiative and a solid work ethic.
