The role :
CC&LFG is seeking to hire a new Assistant Controller for the Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure Team (“the Fund”). This person will work with a growing team of finance professionals and will report to the CFO, Infrastructure.
In this role the successful candidate will oversee the coordination of the full cycle accounting function for the Fund’s open-ended investment vehicles and Infrastructure projects (together, “the Investment Vehicles”), along with a team of direct reports.
What You Will Do
- Reporting to the CFO, Infrastructure, and working directly with the Controller of Funds, this person will take complete responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function as it relates to the Investment Vehicles, including but not limited to :
- Responsible for the oversight and management of the financial administration and financial reporting of the Investment Vehicles. Evaluate cash flow projections and recommend distributions impacting the Fund’s operating partners and projects across different stages of development.
- Support diligence requirements on a variety of transactions, collaborating with internal teams and external advisors to address tax, financial reporting, and administrative matters.
- Prepare and review quarterly financial statements (in accordance with ASPE or IFRS), Management Committee meeting materials, facilitate budget reporting matters, and ad hoc presentations.
- Manage debt and lender compliance, including the administration of the Investment Vehicles’ Credit Facility, officer certifications, and covenant calculations. Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions to arrange working capital financing and letters of credit.
- Prepare and review the audited financial statements and co-ordinate the quarterly and annual delivery of these financial statements as required by the specific debt facility or partnership agreement.
- Act as the financial liaison between the infrastructure asset management and investment management teams, providing financial insights to support informed decision-making with new and existing Investment Vehicles.
- Review and prepare corporate and partnership tax returns including, after appropriate internal and external consultations, decisions on filing positions. Provide review over these externally prepared tax returns (T5013, T2). Review and approve HST and SLFI returns.
- Coordinate with other CC&LFG departments on matters such as capital calls, client reporting, and performance measurement.
- Implement key initiatives with the objective of improving the accessibility, timeliness, and quality of financial information outputs. Collaborating with other CC&LFG resources to improve systems, workflow, and document management.

Qualifications and skills :
- CPA, CA Designation, Big 4 Firm Experience considered an asset.
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years relevant work experience with at least 2 years of post-firm / industry experience at a manager level position (i.e., with direct reports).
- Highly organized with a high attention to detail, with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience writing technical accounting memos, financial statement note disclosures, and dealing with complex accounting issues.
- Strong communicator able to deal adeptly with internal and external stakeholders, financial institutions, auditors and tax authorities.
- Experience with financial statement preparation, maintaining accounting records and general ledger, etc.
- Experience with tax filings and accounting policies and procedures is essential. Understands Canadian tax rules including intercorporate and individual tax integration.
- Exposure to ASPE reporting and IFRS.
- Strong working knowledge of Yardi and experience using tax software (Taxprep) is preferred.

- Base salary commensurate with experience.
