Job summary

Osler is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide patient care and education within your scope across acute medical, CCC, palliative and surgical areas. A six-week working schedule will be provided in advance.

Accountabilities include floating to units as staffing needs require and potential temporary placements on medical or surgical units across Osler sites. The role requires current CNO registration, CPR, English fluency, and a team-based approach.

Qualifications

• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO.
• Current CPR certificates required.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension).
• Recent experience within two years of working in acute medicine and/or surgery.
• Flexibility and ability to float to acute medical, palliative, CCC and surgical units as required daily.
• Ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate teamwork.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Understanding of issues related to specialties in medical/surgical nursing for patients and families.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
• Commitment to continuing education in acute care medicine/surgery.
• Willingness to travel between Osler sites.

Job description

Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, you will be responsible to provide patient care and education within your scope of practice in a variety of acute medical, CCC, palliative and surgical patient care areas. You will be provided in advance with a six week working schedule.

Accountabilities

• Float to units as determined by daily staffing needs, which includes reassignment of units during a shift at all Osler sites
• Maybe required to work temporary unit placements or project work assignments for either the medical or surgical units

Qualifications

• Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO
• Current CPR certificates required
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension)
• Recent experience within two years of working in acute medicine and/or surgery
• Flexibility, willingness and ability to float to acute medical, palliative, CCC and surgical units as required on a daily basis
• Ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has demonstrated teamwork abilities
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Understanding of the issues related to the various specialties in medical/surgical nursing as they apply to patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrated ability to work in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education in acute care medicine/surgery
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skillsDemonstrated ability to care for complex medical patients with stable, predictable outcomes
• Specialty clinical experiences an asset

Additional Information

Hours: Currently Days/Nights, 8 and 12 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Salary:
Minimum: $36.08 per hour
Maximum: $39.02 per hour
