Job summary

Arts Umbrella is seeking a part-time sessional staff member for the Sept 2026–July 2027 period. The role involves evenings and weekends with up to 10 hours per week, supporting instructors, preparing classrooms, and helping implement Arts Umbrella’s creative vision with students and families.

You will work with a team to ensure safety, engagement, and a welcoming learning environment for children and youth across our Vancouver centres.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with kids and youth in arts education settings.
  • Ability to support instructors and maintain a safe classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support program instructors, ensuring supplies and classrooms are prepared for classes.
  • Collaborate with team to implement Arts Umbrella’s vision and communicate with students and parents.
  • Ensure safety and cleaning protocols are followed and classrooms are prepared before/after class.

In This Role You Will:
  • Support program instructors, ensuring supplies and classrooms are prepared in advance of classes, and working with instructors to ensure students are safe and engaged at all times while at Arts Umbrella.
  • Work as a part of team in implementing Arts Umbrella’s unique and creative vision and communicate this to students and parents
  • Ensure all safety and cleaning protocols are met and maintain the classroom set up before and after class
Here’s What you Bring
  • Strong understanding of Arts Umbrella’s vision and mission, and can demonstrate the Standards for Instruction in their current practice
  • Professional experience in the subject area and demonstrated experience interacting with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience
