Job summary

Umbrella Family in Hamilton, ON is seeking a Temporary Teaching Assistant to support classrooms and centres. This full-time temporary position runs through September 10, 2026, with possible extension.

You’ll assist teachers, engage with children, and help create a safe, organized learning environment in line with early childhood education principles. The role emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and nurturing children’s growth, with responsibilities across Infant to Preschool rooms and daily

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet children and families at drop-off
• Assist staff as they arrive, including helping in classrooms or other areas of the centre
• Provide support in assigned classrooms, including Infant, Toddler, or Preschool rooms, based on daily operational needs
• Deliver and serve snacks, tidy classrooms, or support other centre needs as assigned
• Follow the plans for the day and support children’s learning and engagement
• Adapt to different duties as required by the centre’s schedule and needs Be flexible and ready to support co-workers and the centre wherever help is required

Total Hours per Week: 37.5

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants): $23.79 per hour

About the Role

As a Teacher’s Assistant, you are a key support to the classroom, the children, and the centre. Your flexibility, care, and teamwork help maintain a positive, organized, and safe environment for all. Duties vary from centre to centre, but your contributions will always make a meaningful impact.
