Job summary

Strathcona County is seeking an Arena Operator I to join the Rural Facilities team. You will serve guests, help coordinate arena operations, and keep facilities clean and safe for everyone.

This entry-level role supports set-up for events, assists in maintenance, and requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends. A minimum Grade 10 is required, along with strong guest service, teamwork, and adaptability.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of facility programs and day-to-day facility operations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution abilities when interacting with guests.

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest level of guest service to create a seamless, positive guest experience.

• Set up recreational facilities for guests, bookings, and special events.
• Assist Arena Operator II/III to ensure arena surfaces are well maintained.
• Support overall facility operations, including daily/weekly/monthly cleaning, maintenance, snow removal, equipment setup and takedown, and event support.

Job description

As an Arena Operator I, working as part of the Rural Facilities team, you will serve and interact with guests, as well as work closely with the Arena Operations team to ensure facilities are clean and safe for guests and staff.

This posting is for multiple hourly positions at:Strathcona Olympiette Centre, Ardrossan Recreation Complex and Moyer Recreation Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide the highest level of guest service to create a seamless, positive guest experience
• Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff; provide options and solutions for guest requests
• Set-up recreational facilities for guests, bookings, and special events
• Assist the Arena Operator II and III’s to ensure the arena surfaces are well maintained
• Assist in overall facility operations, including completing assigned daily, weekly or monthly cleaning and regular maintenance Support facilities needs; snow removal, equipment set up and take down, and special event support

Qualificationsand Skills:

• Minimum completion of Grade 10
• Knowledge of facility programs and activities, and day-to-day facility operations
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent customer services skills and the ability to positively interact with facility guests using strong conflict resolution skills
• Works well both individually and as a team
• Ability to plan and organize to ensure daily tasks are completed in an efficient and effective manner
• Capability to deal with a diverse user group with unique needs and the ability to adapt to changing guests and building needs
• Ability to work evenings and weekends

Conditions of Employment:

• Obtain a current and valid Intermediate First Aid certification prior to the completion of training
• Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
• Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
