Overview

Role at a Glance: WalterFedy is seeking an outstanding Architectural Technologist to assist in developing architectural designs and deliverables for Industrial and Institutional projects. In this role you will be working closely with several architects on various projects as part of our Architectural team. You will form the link between the architect’s concept and the completed construction, bridging the gap between the idea of an attractive functional building and the reality of that building performing successfully. This role is located at the Kitchener office and offers a hybrid arrangement, requiring in-person attendance two to three days per week.

What You Will Do
  • Generate accurate plans and details in Revit, using knowledge of construction techniques, record drawings, drawing mark-ups, and instructions provided by architects and engineers.
  • Deliver work that meets high quality standards and deadlines.
  • Apply knowledge of codes, standards and construction technology to solve specific design problems and implement solutions.
  • Determine survey requirements for existing building conditions and plan effective gathering of information of existing measurements, equipment and services.
  • Research building science, sustainable design and design solutions related to project work
  • Maintain catalogue information and technical file system.
  • Participate in quality assurance and control programs.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and team members, including in-house integrated teams and external consultants
  • Participate in contract administration office tasks, such as responding to RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings, generating field review reports.
  • Conduct site visits to observe construction progress, initially with a senior professional.
What You Bring To The Table
  • Completion of a Diploma in Architectural Technology, and/or registered or eligible for registration with OAAAS/OACETT would be considered an asset
  • Excellent drafting and graphic presentation skills in Revit.
  • Familiarity with construction materials and related standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, to be flexibility and shift priorities as needed to deal with demands of changed conditions.
  • Good understanding of Ontario/Canadian building construction and basic building systems.
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
  • Eager to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and meet strict deadlines.
