Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking an Arborist Apprentice/Driver to join the crew in Colborne, Ontario. You will drive the truck with crew to various sites, perform pruning and removal work, and uphold safety while using chainsaws, chippers and aerial lifts.

Qualifications

• Valid AZ or DZ driver's license.
• Clean driving record.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping preferred.
• Arborist certification or willingness to pursue one.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Ability to ascend tree canopies safely.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Team player with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Drive a commercial truck with crew and equipment to job sites.
• Log daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.
• Work as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Assist with job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Adhere to Davey safety policies and procedures.
