Job summary

Amrize is seeking an apprentice or Jr. Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to support West Kelowna operations by maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and machinery.

You will help ensure equipment safety, reliability, and uptime to support project execution and minimize downtime. Ideal candidates have 1-3 years of Heavy Duty Mechanic experience, and are proficient with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrains.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of Heavy Duty Mechanic experience in construction/mining/industrial environments.
• Experience diagnosing diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
• Own tools; tool allowance provided.
• Ability to read technical manuals and interpret schematics.
• Commitment to health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, inspect, and repair heavy equipment to support safe operations.

About The Role

Amrize is looking for an apprentice or Jr. Red Seal or Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to support our West Kelowna operations by maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and machinery. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support project execution and minimize operational downtime. Working closely with operations teams, the Heavy Duty Mechanic provides technical expertise to maintain fleet performance while promoting a safe and productive work environment.

What You'll Accomplish

• Maintain, inspect, and repair heavy equipment, mobile equipment, and machinery to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and technical resources.
• Complete preventative maintenance and repairs while maintaining high standards of workmanship and equipment reliability.
• Support equipment availability by responding to maintenance needs and minimizing equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with operations teams to identify equipment concerns and provide technical recommendations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and equipment history.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance activities are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, preventative maintenance practices, and overall fleet reliability.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while properly caring for tools, equipment, and company assets.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

What We’re Looking For

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician apprenticeship with Journeyman/Journeyperson certification; Red Seal certification is also accepted.

Field of Study Preferred:

Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or related trade.

Preferred Work Experience:

1-3 years of Heavy Duty Mechanic experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment, mobile equipment, and machinery in a construction, mining, industrial, manufacturing, or related environment. Experience troubleshooting diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Experience maintaining a variety of mobile and stationary equipment considered an asset. Come with your own tools and a tool allowance will be provided.

Required Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic troubleshooting skills. Ability to use diagnostic software, testing equipment, and technical resources. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation. Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and equipment maintenance programs. Ability to complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately.

Travel Requirements:

Travel between Amrize locations and work sites may be required depending on operational needs.

• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
