Job summary

Medallion Energy Services Inc. is seeking Apprentice Electricians for a full-time industrial construction role in Alberta. You will read drawings, test equipment, and install/repair motors, PLCs, wiring, and control circuits in oil & gas facilities.

Ideal candidates are indentured apprentices with a valid Class 5 license, who can work shifts, overtime and weekends, and who bring familiarity with CEC/NEC standards. Industry certifications are assets.

Qualifications

• Must be indentured into the trade.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset.
• Valid safety certifications (H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Arrest, AWP) are assets.
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekend availability is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specs for industrial installations.
• Test electrical components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Install, inspect, replace or repair motors, drivers, PLCs, transformers, switchgear, and related components.
• Install and maintain wiring, conduits, fixtures, and cabling.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of electrical systems.
• Size and install circuits, panels, protective devices and related equipment.
• Repair electrical failures and hazardous wiring or connections.
• Fabricate and install conduits, 3-phase work, and panel wiring.
• Work on systems operating at 240 V, 480 V and higher and document maintenance records.
• May install and calibrate instrumentation and related devices.

Detailed Job Description

• reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs AC/DC motors and drivers, PLC’s, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contrails
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
• sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC
• quickly repairs electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• corrects wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work
• works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and Pc’s
• conducts preventions maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
• may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• complies with standards and procedures of the medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations
• must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement
