Job summary

Medallion Energy Services Inc. seeks Apprentice Electricians for a full-time industrial construction role in Canada. You will read drawings, test and repair equipment including motors, PLCs, and switchgear, and install wiring and control circuits while adhering to CEC/NEC standards.

Qualifications

• Must be indentured into the trade.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset.
• Valid H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and CSO certifications are assets.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and electrical code specs for layouts of industrial equipment.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Installs, examines, replaces or repairs motors, PLCs, power circuits, transformers and switchgear.
• Installs wiring, conduits, lighting fixtures and related components.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of electrical systems.
• Sizes and installs circuits, panels, protective devices and related equipment.

Detailed Job Description

• reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs AC/DC motors and drivers, PLC’s, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contrails
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
• sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC
• quickly repairs electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• corrects wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work
• works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and Pc’s
• conducts preventions maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
• may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• complies with standards and procedures of the medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations
• must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement

Requirements

• Must be indentured into the trade
