Medallion Energy Services Inc. is seeking Apprentice Electricians for a full-time, on-site role in Alberta.

The position involves interpreting drawings and electrical code specifications to plan installations and perform tests on electrical equipment, including motors, PLCs, and switchgear. You will install and repair wiring, conduits, lighting, and instrumentation, conduct preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with NEC/CEC standards.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to plan layouts for equipment installations.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
• Installs, examines, replaces, or repairs motors, drivers, PLCs, 480V and 120V circuits, switchgear, and related devices.
• Installs and repairs wiring, conduits, lighting, fiber optic, and cabling assemblies.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of electrical systems.
• Sizes and installs circuits, panels, conduit, and protective devices to code.
• Repairs electrical failures to prevent hazards and ensures proper wiring of machinery controls.
• Fabricates conduit runs, 3-phase work, and panel wiring.
• Works with systems operating at 240V/480V and other voltages; maintains records.
• Maintains documentation of maintenance activities and calibrates instrumentation as needed.

Detailed Job Description

• reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs AC/DC motors and drivers, PLC’s, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contrails
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
• sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC
• quickly repairs electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• corrects wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work
• works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and Pc’s
• conducts preventions maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
• may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• complies with standards and procedures of the medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations
• must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement

Requirements

• Must be indentured into the trade
• Valid class 5 driver’s license
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset
• Valid H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and CSO certifications are an asset
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekend availability is an asset
