Job summary

Medallion Energy Services Inc. in Canada is seeking Apprentice Electricians for a full-time industrial construction role supporting oil and gas projects.

You will work on site with skilled teams to install, test and maintain electrical systems. Responsibilities include reading drawings, commissioning motors and PLCs, wiring panels and conduits, and performing preventive maintenance while complying with CEC/NEC standards.

Qualifications

• Indo into the trade required with apprenticeship path.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and eligible to work in Canada.
• Experience in oil & gas is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset.
• Certifications such as H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform are assets.
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekends is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and electrical code specifications for layouts.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Installs, examines, replaces or repairs motors, PLCs, 480V systems and switchgear.
• Installs and maintains wiring, conduits, lighting fixtures and related components.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and records.
• Sizes and installs circuits, panels and protective devices per code.
• Troubleshoots faults and repairs to avoid hazardous conditions.
• Fabrics and runs conduit, 3-phase work and panel wiring.

Detailed Job Description

• reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs AC/DC motors and drivers, PLC’s, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contrails
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
• sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC
• quickly repairs electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• corrects wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work
• works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and Pc’s
• conducts preventions maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
• may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• complies with standards and procedures of the medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations
• must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement

Requirements

• Must be indentured into the trade
• Valid class 5 driver’s license
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset
• Valid H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and CSO certifications are an asset
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekend availability is an asset
