Job summary

Medallion Energy Services Inc. is hiring Apprentice Electricians for a full-time industrial construction role in Alberta. You will read drawings, test equipment, install motors and wiring, and perform preventive maintenance in oil and gas environments.

We value candidates indentured in their trade, with a Class 5 license and eligibility to work in Canada. Shift flexibility and safety certifications are assets; O&G experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be indentured in trade.
• Eligible to work in Canada.
• Available for shift work, overtime and weekends.
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset.
• Valid certifications such as H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and CSO are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and electrical code specifications to plan layouts.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Installs, examines, replaces or repairs motors, drivers, switchgear and related components.
• Installs and verifies wiring, conduits, lighting fixtures and electrical assemblies.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of electrical systems.
• Sizes and installs panels, circuits, conduits and related equipment to code.
• Repairs electrical failures safely and replaces parts as needed.
• Corrects wiring on machinery controls to avoid hazards.
• Fabricates and runs conduit, panel work and 3‑phase wiring.
• Works on 240V/480V/4160V systems and related devices.
• Keeps maintenance records and follows safety procedures.
• May install and calibrate industrial instrumentation.
• Complies with company safety manual and regulations.
• Pursues trade advancement.

Detailed Job Description

• reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to determine layouts of industrial electrical equipment installations
• test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs AC/DC motors and drivers, PLC’s, 480V power, 120V control circuits, 4160 volt switchgear, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical contrails
• installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic, and coaxial cables assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
• performs preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
• sizes and installs electrical circuits including panels, wire size and type, conduit, protective devices, switches, and related equipment needed to comply with CEC and/or NEC
• quickly repairs electrical failure and replace parts where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• corrects wiring and connections on machinery controls where incorrect applications could cause danger and hazardous conditions
• fabricates, installs and/or runs conduit, 3-phase work, motor terminations, troubleshooting and panel work
• works on systems operating at 240 volts wye, 480 volts wye, 480 volts delta, 4160 volt switchgear, ammeters and Pc’s
• conducts preventions maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
• may install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
• complies with standards and procedures of the medallion health and safety manual and occupational health and safety regulations
• must make reasonable efforts in trade advancement

Requirements

• Must be indentured into the trade
• Valid class 5 driver’s license
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Industrial oil & gas experience is an asset
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) is an asset
• Valid H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and CSO certifications are an asset
• Flexibility for shift work, overtime and weekend availability is an asset
