Job summary

Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation seeks a Manager, Application Services to oversee delivery, support, and modernization of its application portfolio in a hybrid Ottawa/Toronto environment. You will guide a small team, manage vendors, and partner with business units to translate needs into actionable roadmaps and secure, compliant production changes.

The role requires 5–7 years in application services and 3+ years in leadership, with strong knowledge of agile, DevOps, and IT Service

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in application services, technology delivery, IT operations, or related technology function.
• Three or more years of experience leading people, work, vendors, or cross-functional contributors in small teams.
• Experience supporting or managing applications across their lifecycle: requirements, design, configuration or development, testing, release, production support, incident/problem management, change readiness, documentation, roadmap planning.
• Experience with agile, waterfall, DevOps, cloud or SaaS solutions, cybersecurity, privacy, data, reporting or BI.
• Certifications or training in IT Service Management, project delivery, agile delivery, product management, cloud, or vendor management are assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery, support, and continuous improvement of the application portfolio, ensuring reliability, security, and alignment with business priorities.
• Provide day-to-day technical and operational leadership for a small team, balancing people management with hands-on contribution.
• Translate user needs into practical delivery plans, documenting requirements, risks, decisions, and trade-offs.
• Coordinate blended delivery models (agile, waterfall, production support) and prioritize work based on value and capacity.
• Maintain application health, incident response, problem management, change readiness, release coordination, and service continuity.
• Ensure secure, compliant, tested, and production-transitioned changes with partners across architecture, cybersecurity, privacy, data, and operations.
• Manage vendors and cross-functional contributors to meet enterprise standards and avoid delivery friction.
• Maintain current understanding of portfolio ownership, data sensitivity, lifecycle status, and opportunities for modernization or rationalization.
• Support data-informed decisions with reliable reporting, integrations, and management information.
• Coach and develop team members, promoting cross-training, shared ownership, and sustainable workload management.
• Identify risks early and advise senior management on impacts and actions.
• Contribute to technology planning, simplifying services, and adopting modern practices like automation and cloud-aware operations.
