Job summary

Canada Packers is seeking an Animal Care Technician in St-Pierre‑Jolys, MB to join a hands-on team dedicated to animal health and welfare. You will work in a rotating schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and occasional alarm responses, performing essential daily care, safety, and production tasks.

The role requires physical activity, adherence to PPE and safety policies, and reliable transportation to a rural location.

Qualifications

• Commitment to wearing proper PPE and following safety protocols.
• Availability for weekend, holiday, and alarm shifts on a rotational basis.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to a rural location.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and complex tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).

• Experience in hog production is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Feeding and providing general care for pigs.
• Maintaining herd health and clean and safe environment for pigs.
• Pressure washing and preparing rooms for animal entry.
• Performing minor maintenance and sanitation tasks.
• Completing clerical duties such as maintaining door charts, inventory trackers, and ordering feed and medication.
• Following all health and safety policies and adhering to SOPs for humane animal treatment.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations in the barn. This includes a variety of physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, lifting (up to 25kg), and continuous walking. Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Feeding and providing general care for pigs.
• Maintaining herd health and clean and safe environment for pigs.
• Pressure washing and preparing rooms for animal entry.
• Performing minor maintenance and sanitation tasks.
• Completing clerical duties such as maintaining door charts, inventory trackers, and ordering feed and medication.
• Following all health and safety policies and adhering to Canada Packers’ SOPs for humane animal treatment.

Skills & Experience
