Job summary

Air Canada is seeking a data analyst to extract and analyze large datasets using Excel, SQL, and Power BI while designing reporting solutions for business leaders. You will own reporting processes, monitor KPIs, and partner with teams to improve processes and customer experience.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, timely reporting, and strong Excel skills including VBA and Pivot Tables, with a preference for candidates who can operate in a fast-paced, in-person Montreal setting.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a business/data analyst or similar role.
  • Experience with Excel including VBA, Pivot Tables, and Power Pivot.
  • Experience with SQL language for data extraction.
  • Experience in data visualization and deriving business insights.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, engineering, mathematics, or statistics.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve and analyze large datasets using Excel, SQL, and other data management systems.
  • Design and implement reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
  • Own reporting communication processes to ensure accuracy and timely delivery with customer focus.
  • Develop and manage KPIs to measure and control reporting processes and benchmark them.
  • Monitor indicators and develop new ones; partner with internal teams for process and system improvements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in daily execution of program implementation.
  • Generate complex queries for in-depth process issue reviews.
  • Innovate to improve the customer experience.

Main functions
  • Retrieve and analyze large datasets using Excel, SQL, and other data management systems.
  • Design and implement reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions.
  • Own reporting communication processes to ensure that each report is accurate and produced in a timely manner, with a high degree of customer orientation in resolving data discrepancies.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators to measure and control reporting processes and benchmark them.
  • Monitor existing indicators and develop new ones, and partner with internal teams to identify opportunities for process and system improvement.
  • Support cross-functional teams in the daily execution of existing program implementation.
  • Generate complex queries for in-depth review of process issues.
  • Innovate to improve the customer experience.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of experience with Excel (including VBA, Pivot Tables, table functions, and Power Pivot) and data visualization tools such as Power BI;
  • Experience in defining requirements and using data and metrics to derive business insights;
  • Experience with SQL language for data extraction;
  • Experience in formulating business recommendations and influencing stakeholders;
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, engineering, mathematics, or statistics;
  • At least three years of experience as a business analyst or data analyst, or in a similar role;
  • Experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics;
  • Understanding of data warehousing and modeling;
  • Proficiency in a modeling language such as Python or R;
  • Experience with one or more statistical modeling languages or toolkits;
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to foster overall team success in a fast-paced environment;
