Job summary

SOGECLAIR is seeking an experienced aeronautical/ mechanical engineer in Montreal to drive airframe design from concept through production, ensuring compliance with all requirements. You will lead junior designers, coordinate with multiple departments, and support reviews with partners and suppliers.

Ideal candidates hold an engineering degree, 8+ years of relevant experience, and strong GD&T, certification knowledge, and CAD/PLM proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in airframe primary and secondary structures design including systems installations.
  • Understanding of airframe configuration, optimization, loads, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and in-service requirements.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) and manufacturing tolerance stack ups.
  • Experience with CATIA V5 & Enovia is required.
  • Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and interact daily with other professionals and technicians.

  • Support design and program reviews with partners and suppliers.
  • Status projects for functional management.

Job description

TASKS YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH
  • Support the design process from initial concept through final production, ensuring the aircraft meets or exceeds all technical requirements.

  • Provide technical solutions to production line for all structural and system installation issues.

  • Provide technical direction to junior design engineers to accomplish day-to-day tasks.

  • Ensure effective management of assigned design activities by closely working with other engineering departments, internal and external customers, Methods, Quality and Procurement.

  • Closely interface with Stress, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality and test groups.

  • Prepare structural and systems layouts, interface drawings, installations, assembly and detail drawings.

  • Support design and program reviews with partners/suppliers.

  • Status projects for functional management.

YOUR PROFILE IS ESSENTIAL TO OUR SUCCESS
  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

  • You have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in airframe primary and secondary structures design including systems installations.

  • You have an understanding of airframe configuration, optimization, loads, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts and structural in-service requirements.

  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), Dimensional Management, and ability to perform manufacturing tolerance stack ups.

  • Experience with CATIA V5 & Enovia is required.

  • You have an understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and certification procedures.

  • You have strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills.

  • You are able to work in a cross functional team environment and interact on a daily basis with other professionals and technicians.
