Job summary

Senior Helpers of Vancouver is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Registered Care Aide) to support seniors in home and facility settings. You will provide daily living assistance, mobility support and compassionate companionship to enhance quality of life.

Requirements include BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, a recognized HCA program, 1 year of experience, TB test, criminal record check, CPR/First Aid (preferred), and flexibility for evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program.
• Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in a healthcare setting (minimum 1 year)
• Negative TB test completed in the past 90 days
• A negative Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days
• Certification in CPR and First Aid (preferred)
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Assisting clients with instrumental activities of daily living such as light housekeeping, meal preparation
• Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team
• Providing assistance with mobility and transferring patients safely
• Supporting patients with eating and drinking, adhering to dietary requirements
• Assisting with medication reminders and medication administration under supervision
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients
• Providing emotional support and companionship to patients and their families
