Job summary

Ericsson Canada Inc. is seeking an AI in RAN System Developer to apply machine learning and analytics to telecom challenges, focusing on AI-enabled RAN functions in real-time systems.

You will collaborate with RF engineers, software teams and researchers to design, prototype and productionize AI models that improve network performance, latency and user experience within tight compute and memory limits. Qualifications

• Strong machine learning fundamentals including supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning, feature engineering and evaluation.
• Ability to decide when classical algorithms suffice vs. ML approaches.
• Experience with resource-constrained systems and real-time constraints.
• Understanding of inference optimization, model compression, and deployment on embedded/telecom platforms.
• Strong software engineering skills with C++ and Python, CI/CD, and production readiness.
• Knowledge of telecom/RAN systems such as scheduling, mobility, RRM, O&M or performance management.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/EE/Telecommunications or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Drive AI/ML-enabled RAN function design ensuring real-time feasibility.
• Develop, evaluate and optimize AI-based solutions for scheduling, mobility, link adaptation and RRM.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI into existing RAN products and pipelines.
• Assess when ML adds value versus classical approaches and avoid over-automation.
• Design experiments, data collection, and validation methodologies for AI-driven solutions.
• Translate data insights into deployable capabilities to improve network performance and user experience.
• Optimize models for limited CPU, memory, power and latency budgets.
• Contribute to AI methodologies, lifecycle practices, tooling and best practices for AI-native networks.
