Job summary

Ericsson Canada Inc. is seeking an experienced AI in RAN System Developer to apply machine learning to real-time telecom challenges.

You will design AI-enabled RAN functions, optimize models for embedded platforms and work with cutting-edge NR/5G technologies while preparing for future AI-native networks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to move from prototype to production, balancing AI accuracy with system constraints and ensuring scalable, reliable solutions for scheduling,

Qualifications

• Strong ML fundamentals including supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning.
• Ability to decide between classical algorithms vs ML appropriately.
• Experience with resource-constrained, real-time telecom systems.
• Understanding of inference optimization and model deployment on embedded/telecom platforms.
• Strong software engineering skills: C++, Python, CI/CD.
• Familiarity with telecom and RAN systems, esp. scheduling, mobility, RRM.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/EE/Math/Telecom or related.

Responsibilities

• Drive system design of AI/ML-enabled RAN functions for real-time execution.
• Develop and optimize AI-based solutions for scheduling, mobility, link adaptation, RRM, and more.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AI into RAN products and platforms.
• Evaluate problems to determine when ML provides value over classical algorithms.
• Design experiments and data collection strategies to validate AI solutions.
• Analyze data to translate insights into deployable network improvements.
• Optimize AI models for limited CPU, memory, power, and latency budgets.
• Evolve AI methodologies and lifecycle practices for RAN products and AI-native networks.
