Job summary

Clearview Co-op in Steinbach, MB is seeking an experienced Agro Centre Manager to lead our agro centre operations, drive profitability, and grow agronomy sales. You will develop annual business plans, manage budgets, and build strong relationships with members and suppliers.

The role requires 5+ years in agriculture and at least 3+ years leading technical or professional teams, plus an Agriculture degree or equivalent. A CNC/CCA-type certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive agriculture experience, including leadership of technical or professional teams.
  • Agriculture degree or equivalent post-secondary degree from a recognized institution; Ag designation or related certifications preferred.
  • Strong customer service, budgeting, and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with procurement, contract negotiation, and marketing support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall operations of the Agro Centre, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and goal achievement.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, and operational strategies.
  • Drive agronomy sales and provide guidance on seed selection and crop protection.
  • Recruit, train, and develop the Agro Centre team while fostering a positive culture.
  • Manage inventory, assets, and supplier relationships, including procurement.

Our Agro Center has been in operation since 2019, and it has been built with the focus of providing great service and exceptional products to the local producers in southeastern Manitoba. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and foster strong relationships with members & guests.
  • Lead the overall operations of the Agro Centre, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and achievement of sales and financial goals.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, and operational strategies to support continued growth and sustainability.
  • Drive agronomy sales by maintaining strong customer contact programs.
  • Provide expert guidance to customers on seed selection, crop protection, weed, disease, and insect management solutions.
  • Manage inventory, assets, and maintenance programs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and loss prevention.
  • Analyze financial performance, monitor key metrics, and implement strategies to improve sales, margins, and productivity.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop the Agro Centre team while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage procurement activities.
  • Coordinate pricing strategies and ensure operational alignment with organizational objectives and market conditions.
  • Support and implement local marketing, advertising, merchandising, and promotional initiatives to drive business growth.
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental stewardship, including the safe handling of agricultural products and hazardous materials.

  • Agriculture degree or equivalent post-secondary degree, from a recognized institution.
  • Ag. designation, Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), and valid Pesticide & Seed Treatment, Pesticide Dealer, and Bulk Seed Operator certifications/licenses are preferred.
  • Experience with AWSA and CFIA bulk seed management.
  • Knowledge of KSI Seed Treaters and Volumetric Fertilizer Plants is considered an asset.
