Job summary

Midwest Co-op in Ontario is seeking an Agronomy Customer Service Coordinator under the Agronomy Manager. You’ll handle all administrative customer service for the Agronomy Department and assist the Crop Sales Team with orders and ensure timely delivery.

This role supports precision planning, GIS mapping, soil sampling, and interpreting GIS data for customers, while helping maintain inventory, invoicing, and adherence to safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

  • Requires university or college degree or equivalent years of experience in agriculture/agri-business.
  • Knowledge of agronomy, fertilizer, chemical, and seed.
  • CCA designation or commitment to obtain within three years.
  • Travel as required to support farm owner and branch needs.
  • Extended hours during busy season.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions focusing on the Whole Farm Plan (precision planning and application).
  • Support precision planning including GIS mapping, soil sampling, and interpreting GIS data for customers.
  • Support branch operation, administrative functions, and sales targets.
  • Process orders and ensure timely delivery and invoicing.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and replenish as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule available custom equipment for max utilization.
  • Support department in warehouse and field settings as required.
  • Follow credit and pricing policies and maintain a clean retail environment.
  • Adhere to 4R Stewardship and pesticide rules, and all safety policies.

Job description

Midwest is currently accepting resumes for the position of Agronomy Customer Service Coordinator. Under the direction of the Agronomy Manager, the Agronomy Customer Service Coordinator is responsible for all administrative customer service activities for the Agronomy Department. Responsible for assisting the Crop Sales Team with customer orders and aiding operational personnel to efficiently satisfy customers' product/service requirements. This position is also required to process sales transactions.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
  • No responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to meet our customers needs with a focus on the “Whole Farm Plan,” including precision planning and application.
  • Ability to support precision planning including GIS mapping, soil sampling, and interpreting the GIS data for customers.
  • Understanding and supporting overall branch operation, administrative functions, as well as the branch and individual sales targets.
  • Accept orders for products and services and initiate any actions required to effect timely delivery.
  • Ensure all products ordered or shipped are properly invoiced prior to leaving the site.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies are on hand to support customer purchasing. In consultation with the manager, complete inventory counts and replace inventory as required.
  • Assist in the coordination and scheduling of available custom equipment to result in maximum utilization and quality customer service.
  • Support department in warehouse, fertilizer plants, and in-field as required.
  • Follows credit and pricing policy as determined by management.
  • Maintains a clean and attractive environment in the retail area.
  • Awareness of sustainability issues such as 4R Stewardship, Class 12 Pesticide rules.
  • Understands and follows all Corporate, Legislative and Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains proper personal image and care of company assets.
  • Working as part of the MCS team, ensures that company objectives, customer service levels, positive employee and inter-branch relations are promoted.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations for employees: use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer; report any known workplace hazard to the employer or supervisor; report any known contravention of the Act or regulations to the employer or supervisor; not use or operate any equipment or work in a way that may endanger any worker.
  • Participate in MCS training which includes, but not limited to, the mandatory Ministry of Labour course, MCS Health & Safety Standards and Policies, and Accessibility Policies (AODA).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires a university or college degree or equivalent years of experience preferably in agriculture or agri-business.
  • Knowledge of agronomy, fertilizer, chemical, and seed.
  • Have or committed to obtaining the certified crop advisor (CCA) designation within three years.
  • Travel as required to support farm owner and branch needs.
  • Extended hours, as required, during the busy season.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Operates primarily within a normal, environmentally controlled office environment.
  • Sitting for long periods at a terminal or computer.
  • At times, work will be conducted outdoors or in a warehouse or fertilizer plant environment.
  • May be continuously exposed to dust, agricultural chemicals, fertilizers, fumes and smells from gasoline, propane, diesel fuel, and lubricants.
  • Lifting small to medium weighted items in all areas.
  • May be required to repetitively lift and carry product weighting up to 25kg.
  • CSA approved safety boots are mandatory safety attire in designated areas. Other personal protective equipment may be required to be worn such as hard hats, coveralls, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, respiratory equipment, hi-vis attire and fall arrest equipment.
