Job summary

Blackline Safety is seeking an experienced SMT Operator for afternoon shifts in a Calgary-based facility. The role involves setting up and running SMT equipment, inspecting PCB assemblies, and maintaining equipment per IPC-610 standards.

You will read BOMs, follow work instructions, and document processes while supporting continuous improvement with a collaborative team. The ideal candidate has 2+ years SMT experience, a high school diploma (technical diploma preferred), and strong Excel/Word

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma with preference for technical diploma.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as an SMT operator.
• Ability to read BOMs and manufacturing process instructions.
• In-depth knowledge of SMT component packages and industry markings.
• Familiarity with IPC-610 standards for assemblies and soldering quality.
• Proficient in Excel and Word for data tracking and reports.
• Understanding Lean Manufacturing to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate SMT production equipment to produce assemblies.
• Conduct visual inspections and rework SMT PCBAs as needed.
• Perform daily/weekly preventive maintenance on SMT equipment.
• Follow work orders and manufacturing instructions precisely.
• Document routines and report issues to Lead Hand.
• Collaborate with team to ensure quality products for downstream operations.
• Assist other SMT operators and complete assigned tasks.
