Job summary

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is seeking a Youth Program Instructor for after-school programs at Silver Birches, Ferris Glen and East Ferris sites in North Bay, ON. This is a part-time role with a start date as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will plan and run age-appropriate activities, supervise participants, and communicate with parents. A first aid certificate, clear police check and strong interpersonal skills are required; bilingualism is an asset.

Qualifications

  • OSSD preferred; education outside Canada may require evaluation.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C.
  • Experience leading/group activities with youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Program, plan, and implement activities.
  • Supervise, engage and participate with participants in group activities.
  • Apply behavior management techniques with participants.
  • Ensure safety of participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and request more when needed.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians daily.
  • Build relationships with members and guests, promoting the YMCA.

This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.

We are currently looking for a Youth Program Instructor to join our team of committed professionals. This Part Time position within the Association is located at our Silver Birches, Ferris Glen, and East Ferris After School Program sites.

START DATE As Soon As Possible
LOCATION North Bay, ON
RATE OF PAY $17.60
HOURS 4-20 Hours / Weekly

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred *for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES with their application
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Experience working/leading group activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bilingualism in both official languages considered an asset
  • Current and Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Program, plan, and implement activities
  • Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
  • Apply behavior management training techniques with the program participants
  • Ensure the safety of all participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices and procedures
  • Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on a daily basis
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
