Job summary

YMCA of Northeastern Ontario invites applications for a Day Camp Coordinator. This full-time contract role (8 months) is based at the Durham location in Sudbury and will coordinate day camp programs across Sudbury, Espanola, and Elliot Lake.

START DATE: as soon as possible; RATE OF PAY: $21.63 / Hour; HOURS: up to 40 per week. Under the General Manager of Camping and Youth Leadership, you will plan schedules, supervise staff, ensure safety standards, and promote YMCA values in all activities.

Qualifications

  • OSSD required.
  • National Lifeguard certification (NLS) in good standing.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C.
  • Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in program delivery and scheduling for day camps.
  • Respond to inquiries promptly regarding programs.
  • Be a positive role model for participants.
  • Oversee summer operations at day camp sites across Sudbury, Espanola and Elliot Lake.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteers scheduling; ensure time cards are completed.
  • Ensure safety standards are met and paperwork is completed promptly.
  • Support recruitment and staff development while promoting YMCA values.

Day Camp Coordinator

We are currently looking for Day Camp Coordinator to join our team of committed professionals. This Full-Time Contract position(8 months) within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario’s Durham location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the General Manager of Camping and Youth Leadership, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and development of day camp programs and services according to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards and ensuring participant satisfaction. The Day Camp Coordinator coordinates the overall scheduling and planning of summer day camp programs in Subdury, Espanola and Elliot Lake.

START DATE: As soon as Possible

RATE OF PAY: $21.63 / Hourly

HOURS: up to 40 Hours / Weekly

Major Responsibilities
  • Participate in program delivery schedule as needed
  • Respond to inquiries regarding programs promptly
  • Be a positive role model for all program participants
  • Manage overall summer operations at day camp sites across Sudbury as well as Espanola and Elliot Lake ensuring site Directors have tools and supplies needed
  • Communicate with program participant guardians and staff
  • Complete staff check-ins and evaluations for Site Directors
  • Assist with scheduling staff and volunteers across day camp sites and ensure time cards are completed
  • Complete incident reports for submission to the General Manager of Camping and Youth Leadership
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Assist with recruitment and selection of staff
  • Assist in providing support to staff and volunteers
  • Ensure that all Association safety standards are met or exceeded
  • Incorporate the Y Way into daily responsibilities
  • Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
  • Work within established budgets for each location
Qualifications
  • Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • National Lifeguard certification (NLS) in good standing (where applicable)
  • Minimum of one (2) years of experience in a supervisory or similar role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
