YWCA Hamilton is hiring an After-School Program Assistant to support daily operations of our youth recreation activities for children aged 6-14 in Hamilton, ON. The role works 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday 2:00-6:00pm, with a temporary contract through June 2027.

Responsibilities include planning quality activities aligned with YWCA goals, maintaining records, and collaborating with the Youth Programs Manager.

Qualifications

• Completion of CYW, Recreation & Leisure, Recreation Therapy, SSW, a member of the Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost.
• Must provide a TB test, tetanus and MMR immunizations.
• Must have current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost.

Responsibilities

• Supports the efficient daily operation and activity in after school recreation programs and activities, working collaboratively with the Youth Programs Manager.
• Plans and implements quality programs for children 6-14 years, in keeping with YWCA mission, vision and values while adhering to the YWCA policies and procedures and quality standards.
• Develops and delivers quality programs that supports and promotes learning, and the healthy development of children by guiding the programs to align with YWCA’s goals and objectives.
• Works closely with the program Manager to implement curriculum and routines to meet the needs, interests and talents of all children.
• Creates and supports a stimulating and nurturing environment that promotes physical literacy and overall health and wellness, ensuring the safety of children enrolled in the after-school program through direct supervision, and attendance protocols.
• Maintains up to date program registration records and waitlist maintenance as required.
• Assists with the outreach and marketing of programs, including running community outreach events and liaising with community partners and contacts.
• Performs other duties as required.
