Job summary

Saplings Outdoor Program in Vancouver seeks an After School Care Educator for the 2026/2027 school year. This part-time role runs daily from 2:45–5:00 pm, outdoors in all weather, focusing on play-based learning for children aged 5-12.

You will plan activities, observe and document learning, and work with families, with ongoing training provided. Requires valid ECE/ECEA certification and CPR/First Aid willingness.

Qualifications

  • Valid ECE/ECEA or Responsible certification.
  • Experience working with school aged children.
  • Emergency First Aid with CPR Level B and AED, or willingness to obtain before start.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate engaging, play-based learning experiences.
  • Support inquiry-based and child-led exploration.
  • Supervise children indoors and outdoors with active engagement.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments in outdoor environments.
  • Build respectful, collaborative relationships with families.
  • Document children’s learning through observations and narration.
  • Maintain licensing compliance and professional standards.
  • Contribute positively to a reflective, team-based culture.

After School Care Educator.
Saplings Outdoor Program – Vancouver.

Part Time | 2026/2027 school year.

Our After School Care Program serves children aged 5-12 years. Our programs regularly access nearby green spaces and parks, and educators must feel confident and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Position Details:
  • Part-Time position shifts occurring daily from 2:45-5pm only.
  • Shift pattern to be confirmed.
  • Start date: ongoing for the 2026/2027 school year.
  • Mandatory paid training/onboarding.
Wage:
  • $20–$24 per hour depending on experience.
  • Plus $6 per hour ECE Wage Enhancement (if applicable).
Qualifications:
  • Valid ECE, ECEA or Responsible certification.
  • Experience working with school aged children.
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR Level B and AED, or willingness to obtain prior to start.
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round.
  • Strong understanding of child development and play-based pedagogy.
All successful candidates will be required to:
  • Complete appropriate Criminal Record Checks.
  • Submit immunization declaration documentation.
  • Provide proof of eligibility to work in Canada.
