Job Description

Advanced Practice Provider Pain Management & Palliative Care

The ideal candidate is an Advanced Practice Provider (Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant) with at least 1 year of experience in oncology or palliative care. Exceptional new graduates with a focused interest will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

1. Medical Knowledge: Demonstrate in-depth oncology-specific and general medical-surgical knowledge, provide rational explanations for clinical decisions based on guidelines, science, and experience, and contribute to research by staying informed about protocols and identifying trial candidates.
2. Patient Care: Assess all aspects of the patient's oncologic health, perform comprehensive histories and exams, interpret findings, formulate care plans, and educate patients and families about care management and psychosocial issues.
3. Practice-Based Learning and Improvement: Self-assess and identify learning needs, attend relevant education, and apply research findings to practice.
4. Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with healthcare team members, document care plans properly, and participate in meetings and committees to promote interdisciplinary care.
5. Professionalism: Act as a resource and leader, manage time effectively, reflect on personal development, and adhere to legal and ethical standards.
6. Systems-Based Practice: Engage in quality improvement, document services accurately, and assist patients in navigating barriers to care.

Additional to the above, Advance Practice Nurses must also practice holistically, considering the psycho/social/spiritual and physical aspects of patient care within their social and cultural context.
