Position Overview

The ideal candidate is an Advanced Practice Provider (Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant) with at least 1 year of oncology experience. Exceptional new graduates with a focused interest will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
Medical Knowledge
  1. Demonstrate in-depth oncology-specific and general medical-surgical knowledge.
  2. Provide rational explanations for clinical decisions based on guidelines, science, and experience.
  3. Contribute to research by staying updated on protocols and identifying trial candidates.
Patient Care
  1. Perform comprehensive health histories and physical exams to identify health problems and initiate appropriate actions.
  2. Interpret clinical findings and develop individualized care plans.
  3. Educate patients and families about oncology care, side effect management, and psychosocial issues.
Practice Based Learning and Improvement
  1. Identify knowledge and skill needs through self-assessment and peer review.
  2. Attend and disseminate relevant continuing education.
  3. Apply research findings to clinical practice.
Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication
  1. Communicate effectively within the healthcare team.
  2. Document care plans accurately in the electronic medical record.
  3. Participate in team meetings and tumor boards.
Professionalism
  1. Act as a resource and leader in oncology care.
  2. Manage time effectively and reflect on personal development.
  3. Maintain legal and ethical standards.
Systems-Based Practice
  1. Participate in quality improvement activities.
