Job summary

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) seeks an Administrative Support for the Ottawa, Ontario location. This temporary full-time role runs from October 2026 to October 2027 and starts with a salary of $46,054.

The incumbent reports to the Director, Water Sector and assists in broad administrative management of the Sector. Responsibilities include filing, travel arrangements, meeting coordination, document preparation, and budget reconciliation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education as stated: secondary school with administrative studies certificate or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general office duties and manage data for the Sector.
  • Organize and maintain sector files, records and database.
  • Arrange travel for staff and Chiefs/Technical Committee members.
  • Organize meetings, prepare mail-outs and information kits.
  • Book facilities, track administrative and financial details per AFN policies.
  • Maintain accounting records and process budget-related documents.
  • Draft correspondence, type minutes and proofread documents.
  • Coordinate internal/external communications for the Director.
