Sinai Health is looking for an Administrative Assistant to support our Department of Surgery.
The Administrative Assistant is an integral part of a busy and dynamic clinical practice within the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. In this role, you will exercise sound judgment and independence while managing day-to-day administrative activities. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality customer service, applying excellent problem-solving and communication skills to ensure the success of a physician’s clinical practice within the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital.
In This Role You Will
- Schedule patient appointments for clinics or operative procedures
- Prepare charts for daily clinics and ensure all results are filed on charts
- Review and transfer messages to physicians with patient charts for follow-up; prepare charts for new patient referrals as required
- Retrieve release of information documents from patient charts to forward information to other physicians; prepare charts for patient rounds
- Maintain physicians' calendars and schedules; process all dictated clinical notes (e.g., fax to referring physicians)
- Establish forms, tables, spreadsheets, etc., to capture monthly statistics
- Function in a public relations role with both “walk-in” and telephone clients; provide timely, friendly, and informative service
- Work collaboratively with other administrative support staff
- Communicate and maintain working relationships with several institutions
- Participate in other miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Mandatory
- Successful completion of a college diploma from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, preferably working within a clinical/health environment
- Applicants with proven equivalent recent training and experience may be considered
- Experience with various EMRs and booking systems
Preferred
- A college diploma in Medical Office or Business Administration
- Proficiency with medical terminology and medical dictation-typing

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
